A Gamasutra job advertisement, which was originally spotted today by IncGamers, suggests that Bungie may in fact be recruiting talent for an MMO game.

The ad clearly mentions that Bungie is recruiting a Player Investment Design Lead and Gameplay Design Lead.  The former is, in fact, an intriguing indication that suggests Bungie could be planning to develop an MMO.

The advertisement goes on to mention that a successful candidate for the job has the following responsibilities: "designing the mechanics which drive in-game player reward and incentives" and making sure that "players feel invested in the world and their character" and "have long-term goals...Experience with online incentives (achievements, rewards, economic, etc) and a passion for understanding what drives player behavior within them" and "experience with many modes of online play."

I'm sure that the above description is for a potential first-person shooter. All kidding aside, it seems to me that Bungie is finally moving into greener, fresher pastures. If I may also add, the studio previously mentioned that Reach may be the studio's last Halo game. What do you guys think?

Philip: If Reach is the last Bungie-developed Halo title, I will be quite happy, and as long as Bungie is planning on making something new and freshing, I'm even more happy.

Bungie Making an MMO? Jan 08 2010 22:59:35 I wish they'd stick with the Halo concept as a whole. After listening to the first book via iTunes, it's fairly evident that the story has many paths it could go. Although it seems a LOT more enjoyable playing as the Master Chief, ODST was not a bad game overall. Bring us up to speed more as the Forunner life and how things even got to where they are today.. I'm still with wicked on this one though, I'd glaldy pick up a Bungie nurtured MMO.

Bungie Making an MMO? Jan 09 2010 04:14:58 I love the universe of Halo more than the games themselves, and I really love the games. I would rather they make something else and let 343 Industries just make a ton of anime, books, and other awesome goodies for me to watch and read through.
