Infinity Ward not making Modern Warfare 3
Written by Brandon Tabbert Thursday, 07 January 2010 13:54
According to VG247, Infinity Ward is not creating Modern Warfare 3 and is instead working on something "completely new."

Via their insiders, VG247 mentions the possiblity of a both a Canadian studio handling the title, which would most likely have to be Radical Entertainment, Activision's only Canada-based developer. That said, other sources pointed to the newly-formed Sledgehammer Games, headed by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, formerly of Visceral Studios. Sledgehammer is currently recruiting, as well. According to their site, they are looking for a multiplayer designer with "five years experience working on current AAA multiplayer shooters for current consoles and PC."
Last October, Robert Bowling told IGN that they had "no clue what our next game is going to be, and we won't know what it will be until we finish with Modern Warfare 2, which won't be for a while." When Infinity Ward renegotiated their contract with Activision, there were notes that the deal "laid the groundwork and kick started [their] future project, as well as the possibility of a unique new IP by Infinity Ward, that [they would] have complete control over”.
Brandon: The rumor mill churns... I'm actually in the camp that thinks IW should hand the reins off to another studio and work on a new IP. What about you?

Infinity Ward not making Modern Warfare 3
Jan 07 2010 20:17:04 If this is true, I'm not happy. Personally, Infinity Ward should just do Modern Warfare 3 and then do something else. I don't want the story to be left hanging, and if IW hands the MW series to another developer, the result could be underwhelming or simply less than Infinity Ward's standards in terms of storytelling.

Infinity Ward not making Modern Warfare 3
Jan 07 2010 20:38:27 I think this is a wise move. MW3 might take us into sequel fatigue territory.
