Game2Movie: Kane & Lynch, Uncharted and Dark Void

Hey folks, hope all is well with your tryptophan induced lethargy. Luckily for me I send all of my pants to the tailors before Thanksgiving and have all the hems let out so I don't notice the horrible, horrible weight gain. Anyway time for some more game to movie adaptation news, some of which will make you happy, some might make you cry and some might actually get you pregnant with my love child.
First up, the Uncharted film being handled by Columbia Pictures has picked up writing duo Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly. While the duo are also tasked with writing the "Conan" property (cool) they are also responsible for the eye-rape that was Matthew McConaughey's "Sahara". Previously a writer by the name of Kyle Ward was pegged for the Uncharted writing duties. Ward is also working on Hitman 2 and the Kane and Lynch (with Bruce Willis attached to play Kane) films that are slowly moving into production. The guy is definitely getting a lot of work, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. The only other films he is credited with writing for are 3 Rounds, Criminal Macabre and Deal With The Devil, all of which could be very bad porn titles or very good WWF wrestling moves. None of these films have anything remotely to do with video games, let alone anything that could be a potential tent pole for a franchise, so it boggles me as to why he got even these gigs.
Next, we have word that a film adaptation of Dark Void is in the works. Oddly enough, mega star Brad Pitt (yes, THAT Brad Pitt) is already attached to star, which seems odd given that the game is not even being released until January 12 of 2010. This could mean that Mr. Jolie has either incredible faith in the script or is being paid obscene amounts of duckets. Dark Void centers around a cargo pilot that winds up stranded in the Bermuda Triangle and gets caught up in a conflict between other stranded including Nikola Tesla and an alien menace. If it sounds a bit confusing, just think Disney's The Rocketeer meets Independence Day.
Lastly, we have word from Kevin McKidd (voice actor for Captain "Soap" McTavish in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games) that Activision Blizzard is indeed serious about bring the Call of Duty franchise to the big screen. In October of this year they filed to protect the Call of Duty trademark in regards to film. No other info is available as of yet, but when it is I'll let you know.
Hispanic! At The Disco - Looks like the Hollywood idea machine has it's eyes firmly set on the video game world to find some new money makers. It could be a rough road ahead for us gamers if films like The Prince of Persia tank at the box office.
