Featured Review - Bioshock 2
If you've enjoyed the first BioShock, then you will most likely enjoy its sequel. It doesn't have the same overall twist and freshness as the first title but the plot is enjoyable and actually gives you even more of a moral dilemma since you take the role of a Big Daddy and not Jack exploring rapture with no original purpose and killing indiscriminately. The multiplayer is a welcoming surprise to what many thought would be a tacked on extra - it's most definitely not.

At the end of the day, I walked away from Heavy Rain soakingly satisfied, but feeling a little stuck in the mud asking myself, “what now?” As a technical piece of work, it’s the best of the best. It has a story that can make you cry like a baby at one point and have you grinning from ear to ear at another. When I look back at it, Heavy Rain is like a thunderstorm; deafening and destructive,...

Dark Void is the perfect game to rent, which I am sure Capcom is unhappy to hear. With no lasting value, it is hard to recommend slapping down $60 for this game. While the unique ideas and concepts are fun to play and worth experiencing the cost of admission is just far too great. Even after renting this game you will have to look past the story and enjoy the game for what it is. Expect an...

“This is the best game I have played this generation.” This is one consensus that I have seen a lot in the past weeks. Now, I feel this is a truly marvelous game in so many ways, but I disagree that it’s one of the absolute best games that has been devised this generation. Even so, Naughty Dog has once again hit another home-run with Uncharted 2 by bringing superb single player with great...

In closing, Infamous may not be the most original thing to come along, nor does it always borrow from the correct sources, but it nails one thing very clearly: it's fun. Sucker Punch has crafted a game where the basic acts are satisfying and slick. It's enjoyable enough that it'll make you forget about the fact that we play perhaps 3 truly original games a year. This may not be one of that holy...

The polish that has gone into The Show 09 is of pure passion. All sports gamers want is the for the studios that create them to have a love of the game, and this shows through in The Show with so many tiny details that pop up in every game you play. With so many things being spot on I wonder what they might add for next year’s game. Many are asking for a stick-like swing similar to 2K9, but I...

First person shooter fan? Then you need this game. If you own a Playstation 3, you should run out and grab it now. You will love the game and don’t be surprised if you look down to find a wet spot on your pants after watching. Well done, Guerrilla.

Blood on the Sands is a knock off of Army of Two with a bit of The Club. If you are a diehard fan of Curtis Jackson (lol) then buy it. If you are bored with your video games right now, rent this and play it just for mindless fun purposes. It’s not a blockbuster hit, but rather something to pick up over the weekend at Blockbuster.

If you can’t deal with being challenged to relearn some basic gaming sensibilities and hate being frustrated at all, you probably won’t dig on Mirror’s Edge. However, if you’re seeking something truly new and exciting, breathe deep because Mirror’s Edge is the freshest breath of air that’s come around in many years.

I had high expectations for this Naruto game and it did not meet them. The game is all right, nothing too special. If Cyber Connect had just put more effort into the story by adding cutscenes instead of just a plot summary, and given the Leaf Village a little more life, and given the missions a bit more variety (yeesh), the game could have been the best anime title on the market. But, alas, it is...

With so much originality, polish and sheer programming wizardry at work here, it’s basically impossible not to be impressed by Media Molecule’s gargantuan effort; I’m floored, myself. And that’s not even taking into account that it was made by a mere 20-some people. Little Big Planet is the Little Big Game that could… nay, the Little Big Game that DID.

A well-round karaoke game that has gone beyond the call of duty and integrated features not seen in other music games in this generation. Rock Band and Guitar Hero need to take a few cues from this game. Absolutely pick it up if you love Singstar and want a singer-based game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't content with hitting all the right notes set out for it (an impossibly tall order as it is because of the hype level), but chooses instead to take the guitar and shove it completely down your throat... and this fan could not have loved it more.

If you love the Dynasty Warriors series, you will love this one too but only because it's the exact same thing we've been playing for years. I would advise against buying this game, it only deserves a rent at best.

In almost every way, Devil May Cry 4 is a phenomenal title. It's most certainly better than the last 2 before it, and vies for a spot in the best action game ever book. It's sad that the designers couldn't curb the level recycling, because if they had, this game would unquestionably be a revered, worshiped classic.

Uncharted is a must-buy for any PS3 owners. This game has the best graphics and voice acting you will see this year. It's in fact, so excellent, I have very few complaints about it (even though the enemies shouldn't be so hard to kill). If you were a fan of Naughty Dog's previous games, then you will absolutely love Uncharted.

If you have any respect for platformers or action games, there is no reason you shouldn't be playing the latest Ratchet and Clank. If you've never tried one before, what better place to start than the best game of the series? Beware though, it's probably going to instantly turn you into a Ratchet fan. Not only is Tools of Destruction the best game on PS3 (and a clear reason to buy the console) to...

If you're of the demographic (read: a nerd) that is excited about CCGs, you'll go ga-ga over The Eye of Judgment. No, this game isn't going to make a CCG fan out of anyone new, but it plays to it's audience very well, and is set apart by the cool use of Eye-Toy and addictive online mode. The Eye of Judgment doesn't set out to win new fans, nor to reinvent card games, but what it ends up doing...

If you're looking for a great RPG for your PS3, this is your game. You can see all the main story and side quests in around 15 hours, but then there are countless more hours you'll spend doing the Dungeon Trial. This game, in my opinion, has redeemed Game Republic, even if it can get pretty repetitive.

Before it released, I was so hyped for Lair it almost hurt. Being the gigantic Factor 5 fan that I am (Rogue Squadron II is one of the best flight games period), I was positive this would be a fantastic title, regardless of the critical reaction it was getting. It may look and sound phenomenal, but even so, this could be the most a game has ever let me down.

I think this is pretty much a no-brainer if you own a PS3. If you've never played the game, all the better. This is the best version by a landslide. Yes, there are problems with the game, and yes, they aren't discussed enough, but the core gameplay is so amazing you might fight it hard to care.

0.5/5 - This game has nothing to offer; think about E.T. The Extra Terrestrial game.
1/5 - Stay as far away as possible from this title. This game does not have redeeming qualities.
1.5/5 - This game is bad and bordering on terrible. There are few, if any, aspects of the game worth experiencing.
2/5 - This game has a few key things that are well done, but the numerous faults overtake the overall. Possibly worth a rent for franchise fans.
2.5/5 - This game is flatly average. There's nothing very unique about the game, but it shouldn't be ignored and isn't utterly bad.
3/5 - This game is slightly above average. There is nothing incredibly special about it, but the game is worth a look for fans of the genre.
3.5/5 - An above average, teetering on "good" game. This title has some great ideas and ambitions, along with redeeming qualities that outweigh the handfuls of negative aspects, making it worth a play.
4/5 - A very good game - probably worth owning. Most gamers, regardless of genre preference, will be able to look past small issues and enjoy it.
4.5/5 - Fantastic game! In spite of small flaws, this game brings something different to the table and executes incredibly well. Any game receiving this score is a contender for game of the year.
5/5 - This game is as close to perfect as a game can be: an industry-changing masterpiece. Few and far between, any game receiving this score should be owned by everyone. ever.
