Gearbox Trademarks Borderworlds
Written by Philip Monday, 07 December 2009 13:17
Sneaky info around the gaming industry is always awesome, so get ready for Borderworlds. Since Gearbox isn't satisfied with a decent name that makes sense, they've decided to trademark Borderworlds according to this. This isn't very surprising considering that Borderlands is the fastest selling new IP of 2009 and has received generally positive critical acclaim. Stay tuned for more news on this when Gearbox decides to shed some "official" light on this matter.

Philip: As long as Gearbox fixes the various issues of Borderlands, I'll be happy, but what's up with the name change? Borderworlds sounds as if it may be an MMO, but if not, there is the possibility that players will be able to traverse various worlds instead of just one dusty planet. If Borderworlds turns out to be just a sequel on the same planet, then I'm completely against the new name. Just wait until the third game in the franchise turns out to be named "Bordergalaxies".

Gearbox Trademarks Borderworlds
Dec 09 2009 08:20:29 I would need to change my depends if they announced this as an MMO. They would REALLY need to change the things you can do with your characters clothing, add in some guild type things (mining, fishing, etc.), and make it a bit more difficult to level up. Make it happen Gear Box!
