New Medal of Honor Set in Present Day Afghanistan

medal-of-honour-afghanistanIn a similar move to what Infinity Ward did to the Call of Duty franchise two years ago, EA has announced that the next Medal of Honor installment is coming in 2010, but it's heading to present day Afghanistan for the"most authentic modern war experience" and leaving World War II for good. The narrative will be about the Tier 1 Operator, "a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle." Developed by two of EA's biggest studios, EA Los Angeles is crafting the single-player experience, while DICE (They make a little series called Battlefield, in case you didn't know) is making sure that the multi-player component is top-notch. Check out the intriguing teaser trailer below.

Philip: This really interests me. Sure, Modern Warfare left World War II in favor of modern battlefields first, but the game never blatantly told the player about the war they were fighting in. This new game is blatantly taking place in present day Afghanistan, so there is sure to be some heat from the press. I support the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, so I hope this game does the current conflict in Afghanistan some justice.

Looks interesting. As long as it doesn't depict soldiers as heartless murderers (Admit it, you all know deep inside they have a higher moral code and honor code than we do.) and it represents what we really ARE doing in Afghanistan still, I'll pick it up for sure.
