Halo 3: ODST Launch Party, Seattle

I was lucky enough to attend the official Halo 3: ODST launch party at the EMP in Seattle. The line started forming outside at 11am and the actual event didn't start until 6pm that evening! I heard later that there were over 600 people waiting in that line. Good thing I had a sweet Bungie pass, I snuck in the back door.

Downstairs there were autographed posters and tshirts for sale. You could always find a Bungie employee signing swag down there as well!

Upstairs is where all the action was. There were stations set up for anyone to get their hands on the game hours before it released. Bungie and Halo celebrities were walking the floor passing out swag and talking to anyone, even if they had mad gamer funk. There was also a giant screen in the center of the room where people participated in a firefight tournament hosted by Urk.

There was also a private Bungie-only party overlooking the entire event. Free booze, free food and quite a few good-looking people.

Are you kidding? Free booze, food, and ODST? Sounds like a party to me.

Nice pictures btw, did you take them?

Even though I'm not the biggest Halo fan, I've got to admit that looked pretty cool. And I live so close by, too! D'oh!

Nice pics. Launch parties for big games are always awesome, except if someone mugs you and steals your copy right outside the launch event. That's when things get serious....

Anyway, that place looks huge. I wouldn't have been able to survive all those hours without inevitably passing out from all the standing and walking after at least a good 5 hours.

Yeah I'm not sure if I could stand outside for 7 hours to get into this party, but it was free and open to anyone. I'm sure people thought the wait was well worth it
