Mass Effect 2 Free Day 1 DLC Confirmed

BioWare has just confirmed that downloadable content for Mass Effect 2 will be available from Day 1. In an interesting move, BioWare has announced that with every purchase of a sealed copy of Mass Effect 2, players will have access via activation code to the Cerberus Network, a virtual hub that will deliver bonus content and instant news on future releases for no added cost.

When Mass Effect 2 launches next week, content, such as new missions, unique in-game items, and a new character, will be already available on the Cerberus Network. The new character is Zaeed, a "rugged and deadly gun-for-hire", and he will be able to join Shepard on his quest.
BioWare also provided a list of new content which players can soon look forward to:
- The Hammerhead, an agile hover tank that can maneuver smoothly on rough terrain.
- The Cerberus Assault Armor, a neat boost to health, shields, and heavy weapon ammo.
- The M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun.
It's also worth mentioning that players who purchase the game used will still be able to access the Cerberus Network; however, they'll need to pay for it.
In related news, the official soundtrack to Mass Effect 2, composed by Jack Wall, is available to purchase today from online services like iTunes and Amazon.
Philip: To access bonus content without an added cost is most definitely a wise business move on BioWare's part.
