'Rate My Avatar' on Xbox LIVE Indie Games
Written by Brandon Tabbert Thursday, 10 December 2009 09:51
ProjectorGames, the respected UK independent games developer, today announced the launch of Rate My Avatar for Xbox Live Indie games. Rate My Avatar is a unique application that enables players to share their avatars with other users from around the world, and to rate one another in an attempt to become one of the top rated avatars on the Xbox LIVE service. The application is available now for 80 Microsoft Points ($1.00 US).

Rate My Avatar utilizes a bespoke peer to peer rating system that silently transmits avatars and ratings between connected users, thereby propagating scores rapidly across the network. The user can award each avatar a star rating out of five, with the top rated avatars becoming immortalised the prestigious 'Hall of Fame'. According the DJArcas, CEO, ProjectorGames:
We are extremely excited about the launch of Rate My Avatar. Until now there has been no way to easily browse avatars beyond your immediate friends list. With Rate My Avatar you can have instant access to thousands of avatars from across the globe. It also gives a great competitive edge to dressing up your avatar - you can try out a new style and see exactly what other people think of it! There are also absolutely, positively, no zombies in it. We think this may be a first for Xbox Indie Games.
Brandon: Anything that furthers to use of avatars is okay with me. Maybe cakeytaste will soon be world famous... standing atop the Hall of Avatar Fame wearing his Ezio assassin outfit and wielding a mighty light saber! Also, kudos to DJArcas on the inside zombie joke.

Dec 10 2009 18:44:02 For this application to work they'll have to add "desperate whore" to the avatar body type list.

Dec 10 2009 20:00:37 Meh, I'm not sure how great this could be. We don't have many customization options for our avatars and I already have a few set of "twins" on my friends list. I'm curious to see how varied the top rated avatars truly are.
The check Mii out channel on the Wii has a lot more going for it. |
